Today, as I was sending and receiving valentine wishes, it occurred to me that it takes an open heart to do both. My heart hasn’t always been open. I used to walk around with my shoulders and arms hunched forward. A heart protective shield, if you will.
All of us have been heart-broken at some point in our lives. We grieve the loss and swear that we’ll never be that open, naive or vulnerable ever again. But alas, we are human and the mind, body and spirit have other ideas for us.
Think about whether your heart is open today. If not, why not? I believe keeping your heart protected so that no one can feel and see your light, is not serving you or anyone else. Let the light of your heart shine outward and you just might be surprised at what’s reflected back at you. I know that when I choose to stand tall, throw back my shoulders and crack open my protective shield, only warmth and love are reflected back.
On this Valentine’s Day, I send you an open heart full of love and warmth.
